Yes. Every Dankforger ashtray goes through a full curing and vinegar-bath process that neutralises the surface alkalinity of the concrete. The oil-paint finish creates a sealed surface that is safe for regular contact with cigarettes and ash. Our ashtrays are made for daily use, not just display.
How do I clean a concrete ashtray?
Empty the ash and wash with water. For stubborn residue, a soft brush with mild soap works well. Avoid harsh scrubbing pads and thinners that could scratch or fade the oil-paint finish. Allow to air dry. The finish does not fade with normal washing.
Do the designs fade or peel over time?
No. Dankforger uses oil paint rather than spray paint or acrylic surface coatings. Oil paint penetrates the porous concrete surface and bonds from within, which is why it doesn't peel or fade the way regular painted ashtrays do.
